East Coast cities have already crested 90 degrees, so here are a few key items to keep in mind while playing with Fido or Fluffy outside.
Paws burn. Be mindful of cement and hard surfaces on walks. If possible, opt for grassy or vegetative trails. Walk in shadowy areas or during times of day when the sun isn't at its peak heights.
Hydration is key for all living beings. Always carry a water bottle for your pup.
Pools are refreshing, but pose threats. Think of dogs as toddlers. You wouldn't just leave them there paddling around the pool by themselves, nor would you throw them in if they'd never seen a pool before. Also, be sure to wash off the chlorine on your dog as you would your kiddo.
Deadly Algae. Yep, it's out there. Sadly, fresh water areas are having upticks in toxic blooms that have the ability to immediately kill a large dog. Stay on top of local reports and if it looks like algae, don't chance it.
Always make sure you have a reputable pet service on hand. Your fur babies should be the No. 1 Priority of their caretakers, and if you hire sub-par caretakers, you will likely get sub-par services... maybe even a few missing necklaces or rings while you're at it! Eek.
